Marion M. Attaway, the Administrator of Piedmont Orthopedics since 1988, is responsible for all operations of the practice. She takes special pride in ensuring that the office runs smoothly, that employees and physicians have what they need to do their jobs well and that patients receive the care they need, delivered in a professional and compassionate manner.
"I really like knowing that I have a unique opportunity to help patients and employees," she says. "At the end of each day, I like to feel I have made a difference."
A native of Durham, NC, Marion earned an associate degree in medical assisting from St. Augustine School of Medical Assistants. She is a Certified Medical Assistant, a Certified Procedural Coder and a Certified Professional Medical Auditor. She is involved extensively in medical coding education. She teaches a medical terminology and coding class at North Carolina A&T State University and was the 2012 President of the Greensboro chapter of American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). She is a past President of Guilford Medical and Dental Managers. Marion also works in several capacities at Cone Health System.
Marion and her husband, Dwight, have one son, Daniel, and two grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys scuba diving, skydiving and spending time with family and friends. She and her husband are members of Thompsonville Baptist Church in Reidsville, NC. Marion is actively involved in the community as a volunteer and fundraiser for North Carolina Special Olympics and for the Women's Only 5K Walk & Run, which benefits the Mammography Scholarship Fund at Women's Hospital of Greensboro.
