• Staff development: Piedmont Orthopedics is pleased to announce that one of our orthopedic surgeons, G. Scott Dean, MD has recently passed the inaugural Sports Medicine Subspecialty Certification Exam. Offered for the first time last November by the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), this Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) indicates expertise in the treatment of knee, shoulder and sports related injuries. This national exam was administered for the first time by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). Dr. Dean sat for the exam along with 587 candidates of which only 529 were certified. We are proud to recognize his dedication to continuing medical education which benefits all the patients of Piedmont Orthopedics.
